Bayonetta 2 is a shining star among character action games, even the top tier ones of the past, namely, the much loved Devil May Cry 3. The original was a wonderful new entry the genre and Bayo 2 serves to improve upon everything the first did right, and it certainly hits that mark. New enemies, new weapons, but the same wonderful atmosphere are all here.
Bayonetta returns on a mission to save her old friend Jeanne from Hell before she's lost forever. Along the way she teams up with a mysterious young boy who calls himself Loki and seems to suffer from amnesia, encounters a suspicious and very strong Lumen Sage who seems to be after Loki, and Bayonetta finds herself juggling saving Jeanne in time and helping Loki. Rodin returns to beat down demons and create new weapons for you as well as keep his shop stocked with handy equipment, costumes, and new moves. Luka makes a re-appearance, and Enzo is still being dragged around by the nose into messes he wants nothing to do with. But, well, story really isn't all that important in a game like this.
Combat is as fluid as you could hope. Bayonetta moves just a quickly as her opponents (and at times, faster). Wicked Weave attacks feel suitably heavy and are just as satisfying to use as in the first game. Witch Time is as fun and exploitable as ever. The addition of Umbran Climax is a great one. It doesn't feel overpowered or ridiculous at all. I'd say it's Ms. Bayonetta's version of a Devil Trigger/Ripper Mode. It deals a lot of damage and you can get some serious combo points with it, but you can't use it for very long and it's not a smart move to employ in a crowded battle zone either. Many combos return from Bayonetta 1, so old players should have no problem adjusting to 2. In fact, Bayo 2 feels and plays so similarly to the original that it's hard to believe how EASY it is to jump between 1 and 2. There's almost no adjustment period needed, going from Bayo 2 to playing Bayo 1 doesn't bring out hardly any sluggishness or jarring feelings from an older combat system. It's certainly improved, but it's a fluid change where minor annoyances were fixed, and all the great things remain.
Difficulty modes are balanced beautifully. From the start you have access to 1st Climax (Easy Automatic), 2nd Climax (Normal), and 3rd Climax (Hard). For veterans to stylish hack n slash games, 3rd Climax is a truly challenging hard mode. This isn't a difficult bump with padded health, attack patterns change, enemy appearance change, and damage levels are adjusted accordingly. Enemies are numerous and downright viscous in fights. They attack hard, fast, and brutally leaving you with just enough room to breathe and forcing you to adapt quickly. 2nd Climax is no pushover either though, there's still a decent challenge to be found there for those not quite as experienced in this type of game. Opponents aren't shy about getting up close and personal and while the timing window isn't as small as in 3rd Climax, it's not very long either. Enemies are still quick and strong, but they're more hesitant to attack and don't crowd you or frenzy as they do in 3rd Climax. A special mention goes to the multiple fights with a certain character. You encounter one opponent a handful of times over the course of the game, each time this person has evolved and grown to match your own growing skill. It's a re-occurring foe that reminds me beautifully of the Vergil fights in DMC3 where you're facing off against an enemy that is simply like another version of you, only better. Another reviewer on another site put it quite well, this opponent is like Vergil 1-3 on steroids.
QTEs are minimal in Bayonetta 2, those that played 1 will remember the almost unfair QTEs that took place in cutscenes (how many of us died over and over again from those monstrosities anyway?) There are very few, most of which are merely jump prompts. No more insta-kill QTEs from what I've encountered, and I'm nearly done with the game now.
The framerate is silky smooth, something I'm sure PS3 players of Bayonetta 1 (like myself) will rejoice in hearing. No stuttering, no noticeable FPS drops, no input delay, and no screen tearing. The games have stayed absolutely consistent for me and even in my attempts to push them to their limits they've held strong.
Bayonetta 2 is a sequel that deserves all the praise it will hopefully get. It improves the original in a way that builds upon the deep combat system, and surprisingly deep lore in a way that doesn't make it feel like another game or something drastically different. It retains the same mystical and fun atmosphere the first game gave us. Bayonetta 2 is a truly a game that stands up to it's predecessors in the genre, even the titans of Devil May Cry 3, Ninja Gaiden Black, and my own personal favorite, God Hand. Whether it surpasses those games is a personal opinion, but it certainly stands tall beside them in my eyes. This is definitely not a game to pass up, if you can handle it that is.
It's hard to describe such a game as Bayonetta, and even more to try to describe why is that is so good in my opinion
the deal is awesome: 2 games for the price of 1 and both games are BEAUTIFUL!!
the action is nonsensical!! and that's good! I mean in one chapter you fly in a missile and then you fight on the missile and then ahh you just have to try!
the game has a battle system that is easy to use but difficult to master
The characters at leas for me are memorable and funny
I know that there is many people that don't like this game cause the main character is too TOO sensual? sexist? ehh I don't remember more in this moment but you get me right?
But in my opinion is no something that will make me want to rape, or make me think that the women are sex objects, I mean I don't think that the Princess Peach makes me think that the women are weak!
I even think that these character sometimes tries to say "look I'm so powerfull that I can kick you ass, and look good doing it"
I mean I even had my Mother besides me while I was playing it and wile I admit that it felt a little "weird" my mom was laughing and smiling all the time.
the second game for some reason feels more easy than the first wich I don't mind, and the battles against the bosses are always eppic!
ahh there are so many more things to say but I just can't say anything more, just well If you are not convinced yet, why don't you try the demo in the E-shop?
If my spelling sucks sorry, the english is not my native language
GOD this game is good though. I'm surprised I've never heard of this franchise before. Every time I go to turn on my Wii U now, I get excited just to play it!:)
A little more about the game though...
When you buy this, it comes with 2 CD's. Yes, that's right. It come with both Bayonetta 1 & 2, for all the people who haven't yet played this franchise (Me). I started off with the first game though, since I want to play chronologically.
The visuals in the first game are amazing! It runs B-E-A-U-tifully on the Wii U. NO LAG whatsoever! (Like in Assasins Creed Black Flag) This game cuts like tasylicious butter, visual wise. 10/10 on that!:)
The gameplay is amazing as well, there are countless combo's, weapons, items, and things to be upgraded/purchased! The cut scenes are smart/unique and the story keeps you on the edge of your seat every time!
The controls feel very nice in your hands as well. The gamepad has never felt better! You can use the Gamepad's screen to attack enemies, but I'm stickin to the old fashioned button mashing. It just feels more rewarding than tapping haha
I love how sexy they made the titular character as well. She's so classy in the sluttiest way haha Definitely a major bad-a-s-s!
I would strongly recommend this game if you want to play a dark adventure game. It's got everything you could ever want in one! And it comes with 2 GAMES. It's sort of a no brainer.. haha
Hope this review helped!:)

First thing about the game it looks amazing for a Wii U and it has a nice 60fps, I love Bayonetta's new look and her new theme song, and the soundtrack is pretty amazing. The best part they kept the gameplay pretty much the same (which is no problem for me if there is no problem don't fix it) they also added brand new weapons (which means new combos), the boss fights are more epic and probably way better than the first one, there's also new enemies and it never feels like your fighting the same enemy, and the tag team mode is pretty awesome. The story is a nice fellow up from the first game probably easier to fellow this time
There were some of the best games in the past but, when you compare with the games released on os4 and xbox one, bayonetta 2 is the best till date.
Superb story, action, game play and graphics.
